Sheffield, it’s been a pleasure ?? Let’s talk about my career ? If you guys don’t know, I studied Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Sheffield for four years. (And I got a first, woohoo!) ? I often get asked if I regret spending four years studying a field I didn’t end up working in ? My answer? Not at all! University shaped who I am and without those experiences I wouldn’t be here today. I am not naturally gifted when it comes to studying and I had to graft damn hard to get the results I wanted. Uni taught me how to structure my time and developed my work ethic. I also not only learnt how to analyse scientific evidence and write academically, but I found fitness as an escape during my time studying. Ultimately, it ended up leading me to the passion which I pursue today. Plus I got to meet some damn good eggs like @naomilbailey ? Realistically, I work in a fragile and unpredictable field. Blogging is new and no one quite knows where it’s going and the longevity of the industry. No matter how much I try and build a solid brand, I know it could all collapse around me at a moments notice. Pretty scary hey ? So it’s reassuring to have a degree behind me to fall back on if need be in the future ??
