The stunning Donnersmarck Diamonds were witness to one of the great #love stories of the 19th century: uniting the legendary “La Païva”, the Russian-born courtesan who made her way from humble beginnings to the highest circles of European aristocracy, and Count Guido Henckel Von #donnersmarck, a handsome industrialist ten years her junior, who instantly fell for her irresistible charm, lively mind and business acumen. Together they were the talk of #Paris society, and La Païva’s legendary parties were attended by the likes of Gustave #Flaubert, Émile Zola and even the Emperor himself. These exceptional Fancy Intense Yellow #diamonds – weighing 102.54 and 82.47 carats respectively - were the stars of the show during Sotheby’s inaugural sale of Noble Jewels in #Geneva in 2007. They will be offered once again on 15 November, after having remained in a private collection for the last 10 years.
