I’m feeling a little bit inspired after listening to the brand new @freyalingerie podcast When Life Gives You Melons with @MayaJama as they discussed their worst dating stories ever, so I wanted to share mine with you all. As I’m sure you know, Freya’s a brand I’ve loved forever and you can check out the podcast via the link in my bio. So here goes… It should be quite easy to talk about the worst date I’ve been on. I mean given my disastrous love-life history, you’d think I’d have a plethora of stories to tell. But in trying to remember the worst date, I’ve realised that I really need to start dating more. If you can count it as a date, I do have a rather brilliant and incredibly embarrassing date story with an ex-boyfriend and it probably puts everyone else’s dating stories to shame. I want to take you all the way back to 2007, when I decided to meet up with the ex-boyfriend who twice cheated on me and consequently twice broke my heart. He wanted to meet up, and any sane ex-girlfriend would have avoided him like the plague. Me however, be it through curiosity, a vivid imagination or ego, decided I would meet the bas*ard looking drop-dead-gorgeous, and walk away with my head held high and him begging at my feet for forgiveness. Let’s just say things didn’t go to plan… We met at his for dinner and he decided, rather self-indulgently in hindsight, to show me the highlights of his life in the few months we’d been apart through images on his iPad. We’d eaten a huge meal of creamy pasta (despite me being intolerant to cream), and my tummy was rumbling, but I had to act interested and attentive, because naturally he would miss how caring I was as a result. The problem was, he didn’t shut up for a long time, and my stomach was not settling. Next thing I know, I HAD TO GO, but sadly I didn’t make it to the toilet. Without going into too much detail, my lasting memory of him is him scrubbing his brand new sofa with yellow marigolds on. We haven’t talked since. It was mortifying at the time, but in hindsight I like to see it as karma for him sh*tting on my heart. ???
