An Indochinese leopard at @ZooTaiping. This big cat is inching closer to extinction every day because it continues to lose access to its natural habitats-- the human pressure is just too great. Not only are they being forced into smaller and smaller ranges, but when leopards venture too close to human inhabited areas they are often shot and killed as pests. Like most tropical cats that live in forests, approximately 70% of Indochinese leopards are born in the black color phase so as to blend in as they hunt in the dark woods.
