Charles Green Shaw was a member of the Abstract American Artists, an organization founded in #NewYork in 1936 that sought to cultivate a uniquely American mode of Abstraction. ‘Conception’, a highlight from The Collection of Edward F. Albee, is a superb example by Charles Green Shaw; it’s dynamism, elegance and playful simplicity are hallmarks of the artist and the movement that swept the New York art scene in the early 20th century.
