Narayan Shridhar Bendre’s interest in #landscape #painting developed through the wonders he encountered through extensive #travels around #India and beyond. A visit to #Kashmir in 1936 had a particularly deep impact on the artist’s work; #Bendre reminisced about the #beauty of the region for many years to come. Untitled (Kashmir Series) depicts an idyllic #Kashmiri landscape with a young girl dressed in traditional garb, rendered in Bendre’s coveted #pointillist style. His poetic portrayal of a solitary figure with her back to the viewer echoes the work of the French Neo-#impressionist, Georges #Seurat.
