Self-love ? I've just shared my personal journey to self-love over on @thegirlgains Instagram ☺️ The first message I received was "well of course you love yourself". That made my heart sink. Why is one persons journey to self-love more valid that anyone else's? Surely, the more body positivity we share online the better ?? One of the biggest challenges I've faced when learning to love myself is other people's opinions. I've often felt ashamed to talk about my past struggles with my body. I felt like my story wasn't valid because I've never been overweight or had an eating disorder. I haven't been to any extremes, but I still spent an awfully long time disliking my body. Well, I want to share a message for any traditionally "slim" girls out there. It's assumed that you must love your body. That you can't ever feel low or self-critical. No, that's not the case. I'm here to tell you that your feelings towards yourself are perfectly valid no matter what your shape. Everyone has the right to go on their own journey to self love. So please don't be ashamed to share your experiences or your feelings no matter that your body type.
