Wandering the streets of Abidjan the other day, a kind man taking rest after grinding corn asked me to take his portrait. Obliging, I am often grateful by the stories such simple moments can tell, his small shop covered in cornmeal dust, layered in messages, shadowed details, the narrative of his life along a busy streets in the Koumassi area of Côte d'Ivoire's capital.
