I asked her to take photos of me this year, doing normal things. Swimming, smiling, drinking, being, sunbathing.
It felt strange to ask, as if asking implies vanity.
Truthfully, I want to remember what I looked like as I get older. The confidence of being in my thirties, my best years so far. I don't want the only evidence of my life to be what I was before this. I want my daughter to have pictures of me one day when I'm gone to show her children, and their children. "This was your grandmother...she had a life, didn't she?"
