Photo by @amivitale. A herd of elephants roams near Reteti Elephant Sanctuary (@r.e.s.c.u.e) in Northern Kenya, the first community-owned and -run elephant orphanage in Africa. The Matthews Range is home to Kenya’s second-largest elephant population. They are under constant threat from habitat loss and poaching, but the expanding grassroots movement for community-driven conservation is transforming the lives of people and elephants alike.
