99kg/218lbs Clean+Jerk from Nationals ⌛️ If you know me IRL or have followed me since the beginning you would know that i struggle with anxiety and panic attacks. My "why" behind all of this is probably a lot different than those to the left and right of me in the gym. The barbell has been my go to to help me deal with these things. The self improvement as a whole that comes from lifting and sports in general can not be left out of my life. A few months ago that anxiety was starting to come in to the gym with me, which has not been the case until now. As stubborn as i am, i still recognized the need for help as i was not doing good managing my anxiety with training on my own. I started working with a sports psychologist that has really helped me focus in on what is controllable by me versus what is not... & learning not to judge my thoughts when things are not going perfect. Accept and move on with what i can control... which is what i did. I asked if we could bump up...coach said no... so i accepted that i needed to lift this right then to stay on track for placing top 10. This lift is what i am most proud of from the meet. The situation and things not in my control sucked, realizing i needed to take the lift seeing :12 on the board usually would have made me crumble. In fact, this exact thing happened last year at nationals ...& i did crumble. We all know the clean is not my speciality haha and i rarely make an opener on the clean and jerk, and for the last month of my training for the meet i didn't make a clean anywhere near this weight. Seeing this growth has left me feeling very proud and exited for the future closing the gap on one of my mental weaknesses. I do enjoy hitting big lifts and achieving things that are quantitative- and of course i want to win and i am very competitive by nature - but things like this make me the most proud. The real growth and maturity as an athlete shining. Thank youuuuu @natarem for getting me this missing lift i didn't get recorded with this @hookgrip video! Much appreciated. #strengthfromstruggle
