On May 16th, I had the honor to be invited to the congress of #FoodDesignManifesto for a first international workshop regarding Food Design and Food Security: Challenges in The Euro-Mediterranean Area. The workshop was organized by ADI (Italian Association for Industrial Design) and the Order of the Architects if Naples, and the arguments to discuss were territory, sustainability and security in food design for the next decade. It was a challenging and eye-opening experience to discuss these food matters with old-school design experts and academics for once, rather than digital innovators and food tech experts. I really believe there's a enormous gap between these two huge parts that will contribute to the food of our future. Our venue however, the magnificent Donn'Anna Palace in the Posillipo district in Naples, was a jaw-dropping masterpiece with an intriguing history. Started sometime in the 1500s and never actually finished, it faces the Vesuvio volcano on one side, and the incredible riviera with all the colorful "palazzi" on the other. It also hosts the former studio and the current Foundation of De Felice, late maestro of architecture. It was so beautiful I didn't know where to start taking pictures and all I had was my iPhone.
