This has been a #Sunday of outdoors, meeting up with @igerslazio for #AppiaDay, a loooong, beautiful journey on the ancient Appia Road, among the ruins, villas, catacombs and green fields. I biked all the way under hot sun, drunken with the smell of jasmines that invade Rome in May, and speechlessly watched all those aged walls, huge structures and magnificent creatures that have been lying there for nearly 2000 years. Sometimes we forget that an actual fucking empire was here and it ruled the world. All this almost at the heart of Rome, a 15 minute ride from the center.
This was in "Museo delle Mura", the walls museum, where there had been a sort of gate to ancient city (Rome was bordered with long kilometers of walls, many of which are still in the city). This one was the home of a fascist official during the 30s who made some modifications inside!!!
The only perk of the perfect day was that I got roasted under the sun too! Neck & shoulder now are the color of the beetroot juice I had earlier.
More pictures of #AppiaDay will be posted soon. Although at a certain point I just put my camera and phone away and just enjoyed it all, I still have a couple of nice shots I'd like to show you.
