Peju Alatise’s large scale #portrait of a girl is on view in our Modern & Contemporary African Art #exhibition in #London for just one more day. Alatise is a young #Nigerian artist and architect, whose interdisciplinary work addresses the plight of young girls in #Nigeria. This year she represents her country at the 57th @la_biennale di Venezia, where #Nigeria has staged their first ever pavilion. Through the #green colour - the same as Nigeria's national flag - and the vulnerable pose of the sitter, Alatise makes a clear reference to the state of #womanhood in the country. #PejuAlatise #SothebysAfrican #AfricanArt #NigerianArt
