"I relish every opportunity to enter Miró’s world, which is full of poetry, humor and whimsy. This magnificent collage-drawing appropriates images from children’s books and kitschy postcards and advertisements, incorporated into an environment with bold, expressive splashes of watercolor and rich lines of India ink. Miró loved to experiment with different supports and media, and this work was made at a time of particularly fervent activity, in 1936 while the artist was living in Barcelona. It is a magical Surrealist montage, which I was immediately drawn to the first time I saw it in the flesh many months ago." Joan Miró, Métamorphoses, 1936.
