“People in Punjab wear very bright, vibrant colors,” said the photographer @markhartman. “To me, it shows a sense of pride and confidence.” @markhartman spent the month of March in India, where he’s traveled several times. He spent most of his days taking photos outside the Golden Temple — the highest place of pilgrimage in #Sikhism— as well as at the train station in Amritsar and the market in Chandigarh. This woman’s manicured hand, pressed up against a train window, caught his eye. So did the man in a yellow turban, in the 2nd photo here — he reminded the photographer of Tom Cruise. “I was instantly attracted to his personal style,” @markhartman told @nytimesfashion. Swipe left to see more of @markhartman’s photos from Punjab: a balloon vendor in an Oxford-style button down shirt; a man sporting a mustache and coiffed facial hair; a woman wearing a patterned #sari; a man in a tangerine-colored turban; and a recent bride.
