@lordemusic’s 2013 debut album “Pure Heroine” sold more than one million copies in 5 months, establishing her as a wunderkind pop auteur. Kanye West introduced himself as a fan; @テイラー・スウィフト became a buddy; David Bowie clasped #Lorde’s hands in his and proclaimed that listening to her music “felt like listening to tomorrow.” But the question that nagged her as she worked to meet the June release date of her second album, “Melodrama,” was what the day after tomorrow sounded like. As @lordemusic tried to plot her way forward there were the false starts, fruitless detours and stretches of inactivity. “I had to sort of write my way out of the last album,” she told @nytmag. “Melodrama” grapples with emotions and insights stemming from her recent breakup, but @lordemusic emphasizes that “Melodrama” isn’t a "breakup album." “It’s a record about being alone," she said. "The good parts and the bad parts.” @jackdavisonphoto photographed #Lorde for @nytmag. Visit the link in our profile to read more.
