Unveiled in #Cologne today, ‘Ehrenbreitstein’ (1835) is a crucial work from the artist’s late period, a #German scene hailed as a masterpiece by the artist’s contemporaries. Possibly the first ‘modern’ painter, Turner changed the way we see and think about the world. His bold application of #colour, treatment of #light and deconstruction of #form, revolutionised the way we perceive the painted image.
