Celebrated Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) 150th Anniversary (!!) yesterday. The AGC was formed on 1 Apr 1867. On that date, Singapore ceased to be controlled by the British East India Company in Calcutta, and became one of the Straits Settlements under the Colonial Office in London.

The AGC has multiple roles. It is the public prosecutor, the Government’s legal advisor, legislative drafter, and international lawyer. It ensures that justice is administered fairly, advises the Government on its legal rights and obligations, prepares and updates legislation, and protects Singapore’s legal interests abroad.
