Happy first day of #? Your local weather forecast may not reflect the new season, but bulbs — and a lot more — are blooming at floral shops and farms across the United States. “This country is in the midst of a floral revolution,” writes @tmagazine. Over the past several years, flower arrangements have become wilder and stranger, incorporating all kinds of seasonal flora plucked from the woods, the garden, the roadside and the vegetable patch. @robinstein photographed this pink frost hellebore with a narcissus bulb, which was at @saipua in Brooklyn, that says a lot about the new breed of florist. In working with the rich diversity found in nature — ferns still unfurling, wildflowers, old roses (all hard to find, especially from the wholesale market) — florists are talking to each other, finding sources, farmers, foragers, and the wholesalers to supply better things. They, in turn, pressure their growers to grow better things. Nearly all of them teach workshops, often with each other. Visit the link in our profile to read more.
