Just had a totally surreal moment.
We brought our little moon to @island.yoga for the first time today for a welcome-to-the-world party with the team. Afterward I took her walking around the studio. She was wide awake the whole time, just looking around, taking it all in like she already knows this is her home and every corner of the space has been waiting for her to arrive. I get to the boutique and there are people shopping, staff getting ready for evening class, things moving along as usual. I notice all the new things that have come in since last I was here, things I ordered long ago. I decide to take a teacup home because, I drink a lot of tea, and it's my store so I can. Suddenly I drop into work mode. I wonder about our shipment of books and if it's come in and if our teacher training is ready to be announced and how many spots we have booked for class tonight. Maybe I should check the app for numbers. Everything just feels so normal. But suddenly it hits me: wait. I'm carrying a baby in my arms. A baby. My baby. I look down and there she is, cooing, pressing her chubby little cheek against my chest. For a second I lose my breath. How did I get here? This moment is absolutely surreal, like I've been transported into someone else's life. I'm standing in my yoga studio, holding my baby. I'm standing. In my yoga studio. Holding my baby. Just a second ago, none of this existed. It feels like I dreamed it all up. Except I didn't. Poppy is here and everything I've ever wished for has come true.
I tilt my head down to sniff her neck. Can you smell like light? She does. She smells like the full moon.
