The son of a prime minister and the uncle of Queen Farida of Egypt, Mahmoud Saïd was one the great pioneers of modern Arab art.

Art was his hobby and passion – his full-time job was as a judge – but today Saïd is the only Arab artist to have three paintings sell for more than $1 million at auction.
