Coffee lovers, start planning your next vacation. In the lively plaza of Jardín, a quaint Colombian village nestled in the northern reaches of the #Andes Mountains, more than 20 restaurants and cafes sell coffee by the cup. Coffee is at the heart of Jardín: It’s the local economy that forms a cultural identity. No one takes their cups to-go here. Everyone sits, sips and enjoys. A @nytimestravel writer went to Jardín — located in the heart of a coffee belt in southwestern Antioquia — to indulge his love of coffee. In Colombia, where the government just signed a peace deal with rebels after more than half a century, Jardín is in a relatively safe area. The unrest was never as bad here, mostly because the many coffee farms grounded the local economy in legitimate commerce. Swipe left to see more photos of the region — and its bright red coffee berries — taken by @historiassencillas. Then, visit the link in our profile to read about Colombia’s coffee belt. #☕
