Did you see the moon last night?

Caught this beautiful Chap Goh Mei moon at MacRitchie Reservoir last night. Besides being the last day of Chinese New Year, Chap Goh Mei is also the Chinese Valentine's Day. Some families mark it by coming together for a meal and a bowl of tang yuan (汤圆 glutinous rice balls). I hope you’ve had yours with your loved ones too.
Yesterday’s Chap Goh Mei brought some sad news – an old tembusu tree in Botanic Gardens toppled suddenly, causing one death and several injuries. Our hearts go out to the casualties and their families. I am reminded of an old Chinese poem:

人有悲欢离合,月有阴晴圆缺,此事古难全.
For mortals there is grief and joy,
coming together and going apart;
The moon has bright and shadowed phases,
wholeness and then something gone –
Things never stay at perfection. (translation by Stephen Owen) – LHL (Photo by me)
