Looking for a bubbly punch recipe for #NewYearsEve? Ask the expert, @jenpelka. Tomorrow, she’ll open the doors to @theriddlersf, a snug #champagne bar in San Francisco. Like its city, the bar is an alchemy of old and new, high and low. In what was once a German bakery, cast-iron dumbwaiters will serve up caviar, cheese and #Champagne — along with tater tot waffles, popcorn and ponies of Miller High Life (“the Champagne of Beers”), because “some nights you just want $5 beer and all-you-can-eat popcorn,” says @jenpelka. To open @theriddlersf, she enlisted 32 investors, all of them female. Her supporters helped curate the wine list and decorate the charming space. Soon to come: a ladies-only blackjack league and a book club.
