Takeover by @alexberggruen -- an intimately-scaled sculpture that nonetheless packs a serious punch -- "Tête d'homme" (bronze with brown patina, conceived and cast in 1961) by #AlbertoGiacometti, in our Impressionist & Modern Evening Sale on Wednesday -- this lifetime cast has been owned by the family of the present owner for over 50 years, in fact since the very year after its creation -- this elegantly contoured bronze likely depicts the artist's brother, Diego, who remained a close personal and professional companion to Alberto in the latter's last few years of life especially -- Alberto's choice here to focus on the human head alone draws focus to the heavily textured and richly worked modeling -- #Giacometti also taps into the human psyche directly, with the present figure's fixated eyes seeming to harness and resonate a sense of determination and certitude -- thanks for following along for my takeover... signing off! // #Christies #ModernArt #ModernMaster #ModernSculpture
