2 decades ago, in a land of sensory overload and spiritual abundance, a doctor mixed together meditation and hilarity. “Your body can’t tell the difference between real and fake laughter,” writes the photographer @littlebrownmushroom. While on assignment for @nytmag, @littlebrownmushroom — otherwise known as Alec Soth, a @Magnum Photos photographer — traveled to Bangalore, India, to document a Laughter Yoga workshop for @nytmag. “All of a sudden I was open to sitting in a circle, to looking in people’s eyes, to laughing,” he writes. Rie Sakamoto, who he photographed here, participates regularly in laughter clubs in Japan. “I had a sense that Rie ... could go to a place very quickly that I just cannot access,” @littlebrownmushroom said.
