This weekend, @nytmag is taking a look at the @オリンピック, which will begin a week from today in Rio de Janeiro. For the issue’s cover, the photographer @erikmadiganheck took this portrait of @kledecky, 19, the most dominant swimmer in the pool this summer. "By portraying Katie Ledecky from behind, we aimed to create an image that, in its graphic simplicity, could represent all Olympians,” says @kathyryan1, @nytmag’s director of photography. “At the same time, Erik Madigan Heck's portrait emphasizes Ledecky's tremendous strength and athleticism." @nytmag’s #Olympics features will be available online tomorrow.
