With transportation by motorized vehicles discouraged by government policies, Amsterdam has become famous as one of the most bicycle friendly cities in the world. Over 38% of all transportation done throughout the city is done via bicycle, and an estimated 700,000 bicycles populate the bicycle paths and roads throughout Amsterdam.
