Travis Threlkel is an artist whose canvases are some of the world’s tallest buildings. This tiger (along with other massive depictions of leopards, honeybees, golden tamarinds and more) appeared across the Empire State Building with forty 20,000-lumen projectors. Travis created it to promote the documentary Racing Extinction, which explores what we can and must do to protect endangered species. “Whether you’re an artist or activist, you are trying to express something that has meaning,” says Travis. “And the biggest message is to reconnect humanity with our own world.” Learn more at go.ted.com/racingextinction
