This is an underwater, life-sized sculpture created by artist Jason deCaires Taylor. It is one of 450 figures that live on the ocean floor off the coast of Cancun, all part of Taylor’s 2012 collection, “The Silent Evolution.” He created each cement sculpture from body casts of 90 actual fishermen – then let them evolve underwater as coral and other marine life latched onto the art. “After a year they’re completely unrecognizable,” he says.
