When 3 of his family members disappeared, the Mexican photographer @yaelmtzv documented his in-laws’ sorrow to put a face on the type of suffering that so many families in his country experience. Rather than resorting to more traditional photojournalistic approaches, @yaelmtzv chose to make quieter images, like this photo of a bedroom in the home of his wife’s grandparents in Guerrero. He says that by looking at these small, personal moments in the aftermath of loss, he can begin to shed light on what so many other families are enduring in his country.
