Even if you show up at #Ikea with a plan, it’s only a matter of minutes before the aisles suck you in and find yourself lost in the hypnotic, repetition of products everywhere. The photographer @margeauxwalter re-enacts this phenomenon in her series of elaborately staged photographs, which she calls “Sign Language.” In her studio, far away from the modular shelves and out from under the waffled lights, @margeauxwalter painstakingly blends her characters into patterned scenes that she composes using rugs, furniture and flooring, all purchased from #Ikea. @margeauxwalter calls this photo “In Bloom.” This weekend, the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ #lensblog and @cunyjschool are hosting #nyportfolio16, an annual portfolio review and opportunity for the photographic community to see and celebrate each other’s work.
