Dunottar Castle, a medieval fortress off the coast of Scotland near Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire. When the Glasgow-based photographer @kierandodds began traveling and working abroad, he started to see his home country from an outsider’s perspective. “Everywhere I went, they’d say, ‘Where are you from?’ ” @kierandodds said. “And I’d say, ‘Scotland.’ And they’d say, ‘Ah, freedom!’ They loved ‘Braveheart.’ I thought, why is my culture defined by an Australian director from Hollywood?” @kierandodd hopes to change that. His photo project, #landofscots, delves into the myths and stories that have come to define Scotland, beyond Braveheart and Nessie.
