"I consider myself part of a younger generation of curators that come from a non-Western European background. Though I received higher education in the States, I’m interested in a broader way of looking at contemporary art—not to be confined by any types of a pre-categorization, not only from an art-historical perspective, but other perspectives. ... I think an emotional, intuitive response to art is something beyond knowledge or language—beyond things that can be articulated," Xiaoyu Weng, co-curator of the second exhibition of the Robert H.N. Ho Family Foundation Chinese Art Initiative. The initiative commissions new works from artists who were born in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, or Macao. Today, we announced the artists whose commissioned works will be on view in a group exhibition this fall: Chia-En Jao, Kan Xuan, Sun Xun, Sun Yuan and Peng Yu, Tsang Kin-Wah, Yangjiang Group, and Zhou Tao.
