Try incorporating "negatives" into your routine to switch it up and challenge your body!
A "Negative" is a technique that focuses on elongating and controlling the eccentric phase of a movement, which is also known as the lengthening phase. During this phase, the weight of the resistance exceeds the force output of your muscle, so what a negative is doing, is forcing you to maintain a force that is greater to or equal to the resistance so that you can control the speed at which you drop! Most workouts place emphasis on the concentric phase of the movement, or the shortening phase because it involves the target muscles' contraction, but there are benefits to be gained from an eccentric focused workout as well!
For those of you who want to focus on increasing your mind to muscle capabilities or build lean muscle mass, this is an awesome technique to use!
