A moment of realization. A moment of agency. A moment of truth.
It was like waking up from a deep sleep. For years I was miserable because I gave an illness control over my life. I neglected my very own well-being and impaired the physical nature of my body. I exchanged laughter for scales that screamed and I replaced happiness with an eating disorder that knew no end.
And had I continued to obey the dichotomy and rigidity of Ed’s twisted tales, I would not be here today. In facing my fears, I unraveled the true origin of my suffering. The skin I wore inflicted no pain, rather it was who controlled the strings that deserved suffering.  And in an impassioned pursuit for my own healing, I found myself.
That girl on the left was sick. But in her mind, she envisioned the girl I am today.
In destroying herself, she found herself.
And in finding herself, she then loved herself.
There was no easy route. No fast healing or simply remedy. No short cuts or quick-fix pills.
There was pain, acceptance, and a fight for my own growth.
And most importantly, I did it because I loved myself.
