Juan David Díaz denounced the murder of his father, a small town mayor killed by paramilitaries. As a result, he and his family have suffered numerous threats to their lives. Juan David takes off his bullet- proof vest when he gets home from his work as a doctor. Despite a decline in the over-all level of political violence, and on - going peace talks between the Colombian government and leftist rebels, illegal armed groups still control many areas and intimidate the population through threats and assassinations.
Juan David Díaz denunció la muerte de su padre - alcalde de un pueblo sucreño, asesinado por paramilitares. Por eso, el y su familia han sufrido amenazas de muerte y ataques violentos. Juan David quita su chaleco anti-bala cuando regresa a la casa de su trabajo como médico. A pesar de que el nivel de violencia ha bajado en el país comparado con años recientes, todavía grupos armados controlan territorio e intimidan a la población por medio de amenazas y asesinatos.
