Although the area is mostly dry and hot, occasional rain storms do happen resulting in flooding in many parts of the region. Kakuma refugee camp is the second largest refugee camp in Kenya. It houses about 184 000 refugees from over 18 nationalities. The first section called camp one was built in 1992, the second opened in 1998, the third section in 2003 and the fourth camp opened recently in 2014, mostly housing newly arrived refugees from South Sudan. Other nationalities include Somalia, Sudan, DRC, Ethiopia, Burundi, Uganda, Rwanda and Eritrea and represent most of the civilians who have had to flee from recent conflicts in this region. @dominicnahr #kenya #kakuma #leica #lfi #photojournalism
