Throughout my journey in #Armenia, certain people you meet just drip character. 61 year-old Gevorg Kirakosyan was one of many who oozed such brilliance throughout the country.

Driving high into the mountains in the north, @AnushBabajanyan and I fell by happenstance into Zarishat village — there was no other village for countless kilometers.

A hamlet of 26 families, Gevorg was a burly fellow of tall stature. We meander into him as he collected cow manure and cajoling heifers into a small shelter on the cliffs of small farm he tends. Over a hundred head is his care-taking.

That manure — thousands of kilos accumulated throughout this warmer season — will become next winter's fuel for his family and neighbors, burned in stoves to heat their homes in this region located some 3000 meters above the nearest ocean.
