Members of an elite Colombian #army battalion hike through the mountains near #Cocorn. The group has been searching for land mines in areas once disputed by guerrilla fighters in #Colombia. According to the country’s government, #landmines and unexploded munitions claimed more than 11,000 victims — killing 2,216 — in the last 25 years. Under a planned pilot program for mine clearance, rebel fighters would work with government soldiers, helping them find land mines planted by the FARC, the country’s largest rebel group.
