El Presidio Modelo Prison on the island La Isla de la Juventud, Cuba. This prison held over 5,000 prisoners when it was in use. The most famous was Fidel Castro and some of his followers who were confined here for 22 months starting in 1953. The prison was similar to a style used in the United States at that time.
