Berkshires #WesternMA — How cool (no pun intended) is this! Walking outside this morning was another reminder of how alive and insanely brilliant the world is. The exhilaration of intense cold, its radical changes, at times by the minute. The unique quality of light and the acoustical difference in gait upon objects — cracking wood resonance of steps upon a deck, squealing of ice, flexing under foot. The audible reverberation of cold as if it were a noun. I began to understand more clearly why polar obsessed mates, like @ナショナルジオグラフィック colleague @PaulNicklen, have a passionate love affair and embracement of such frigid natural wonders. How a potentially dangerous morning as today is actually exhilarating and expanding. BTW, our pipes froze over night. Had it not, I would have missed this expanding, awesome morning. A brief heating of the water pump brought the precious liquid flowing, allowing for the second most precious liquid, coffee.
