On my last trip to #Kurdistan and northern Iraq, I took this photograph of #Iraqi #Kurdish #peshmerga fighters driving through an Arab town that they had recently captured from the #IslamicState in the farmlands outside the town of Dokuk, about 30km south of #Kirkuk city. The mood was especially tense on this frontline - in some spots, the peshmerga and IS fighters were just meters apart, separated only by a berm of earth. This photograph is part of a larger, long-term project I am working on about the #Kurds.
