Mass Extinctions
Late Permian era plant
Working on story on paleobotany
Are you a paleobotanist?
I’m working a concept concerning #paleobotany. When I was down in South Africa a couple of weeks ago for an @ナショナルジオグラフィック story, I came across some beautiful #fossilized specimens from the #Permian era. The delicate structure of prehistoric plants helps us glimpse the past of all modern plants in a way that might help us better understand the origins of modern flora.
This fossil is from the largest mass extinction event in #geobiological history known as #TheGreatDying, a twofold extinction event that took more than 96% of the organismal population. It’s a botanical specimen, but I’m not sure which. Any #paleobotanists out there who could help me out? Send a message to mail@tentonstudio.com
