Pia Mancini is fed up with the idea that people don’t get involved because they’re apathetic. Governments, she says, don’t give them a reason to care. Formal votes are rare and the issues that matter are often explained poorly. As an Argentinian activist, she proposes using technology to help citizens stay involved. Her app, DemocracyOS, translates every bill into plain language and allows people to say whether or not they support it.
