Sotheby’s will offer the world’s greatest jadeite bead necklace this April in Hong Kong. The Hutton-Mdivani Necklace is named for American heiress Barbara Hutton, whose father – retail tycoon Frank Winfield Woolworth – presented it to her on the occasion of her marriage to Prince Mdivani of the Georgian noble family. The necklace comprises 27 gigantic Qing jadeite beads reputedly from the Imperial Court, as well as an innovative clasp designed by Cartier in the 1930s.
