Truly the finest cup of Turkish style coffee I've ever had, brewed Jordanian style last night in Aqaba, Jordan. The process is done by bringing to a boil the water and coffee grounds in heated sand. Not just any type of sand — sand from millenniums of granite rock erosion collected in the Rift Valley which runs through Jordan then well southward into Africa. For fellow coffee lovers, the sand is heated from beneath by fire. Preparing Turkish coffee this way allows for the brewing coffee not to become burned by a direct flame.
