Mrs. Gonzalez has been through a lot in the last year. A longtime resident of Staten Island, she and her husband lived in a motel across the street from their destroyed home for 7 months after Hurricane Sandy. A year later they're still recovering from the financial and emotional loss caused by the storm. A woman of faith, Mrs. Gonzalez' unwavering positivity is a testament to the resolve of the people here whose entire lives were turned upside down by Sandy but yet find a way to put the pieces back together and continue living.
