Breezy Point, a tight-knit private community on the tip of the Rockaway peninsula, saw a series of fires and floods on October 29, 2012, that destroyed about 350 homes. A good portion of the homes were demolished or inhabitable. A year later, while progress has been made, it's still just the first steps in a long process of healing.
